It seems that Congress (Both the Senate and the House) in Washington, DC have totally lost all sense of what the United States WAS and should STILL BE. A land of freedom and a place that other's in the world would like to be a part of. They are in closed door session with George W. talking of the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform". Whereas we have an estimated 20 million illegal aliens here now, they are discussing giving them amnesty and allowing them to bring in spouses, children, and parents. If there are only two persons brought in by each illegal, that would swell the illegal ranks to 40,000,000. If they bring in 4 --an additional 80 million. They are also talking about some illegal alien visas for residency here for unlimited time.
What truly amazes me is the black congress personnel... If the black population is 23% of the population, that is about 63,000,000 people. When this truly stupid immigration plan is passed, the Hispanic population will be over 100,000,000.....Don't the black "leaders" see their being pushed to the back of the bus again, by the Rich White Liberals (in thought - - which does include George W., Teddy Kennedy, Hillary, Harry, Nancy.....ad nausium). A huge part of what being an AMERICAN is going to be diluted by people that don't want to mix in the traditional melting pot that AMERICA used to be. We will have small Mexicos, El Salvadors, Chiles, Nicaraguas, Islambergs all over the US....not wanting any part of the American culture.
I doubt that the Einsteins in Washington have given any thought to the 200,000 or more persons that have deportation orders because they have over stayed their Visas and can't be found by the feds.. many of them middle easterners. Is Akmed or Muhammad going to be able to bring his wife and parents here as well?....(have to embrace diversity). Do we really want another 1,000,00 Islamic Fundamentalist quasi terrorists here? Doesn't seem to bother Congress or the Senate or George W. We already allow more legal immigrants into the US every year that all the other nations in the World COMBINED. None of the DC idiots can solve the problem because they don't recognize that we have a problem. Their only problem is how to get reelected.
George W. said "you can't enforce the border" Basically this is a huge load of Barbara Streisand. Dwight Eisenhower Started buses in San Diego heading east. At every INS station, they would pick up the captured illegals and turn the bus south and redeposit them in Mexico (south of Mexico City DF). The same would be done south of Phoenix, El Paso, Eagle Pass, Laredo, Brownsville, etc the points between. After he did that a couple of times, the crossings dwindled. In lieu of this, just go ahead a build a fence. Restrict the access of the illegal (but honest) aliens and the drug runners, coyotes, terrorists. Do this 1st, then work on the work visas, etc on the existing 20,000,000 we already have.
Start the National ID program.
No Free Education to non US citizens.
No Free Medical to non US citizens.
No Voting by non US citizens.
No Lone Star Cards for non US citizens
For almost 2 centuries the US has welcomed immigrants. Its true that the immigration bureaucracy was much smaller (probably non existent) but the immigrants had to atleast swear an oath of allegiance to the US. Now they are celebrated by waving the flags of their country and spitting on ours of burning it. The last thing we need are more immigration and naturalization laws not to be enforced. Everyone should call their congressional rep and their senators and tell them your are ashamed of their going against the wants and desires of 85% of the population in this stupid process. Just because they "FEEL GOOD" about doing something, NOTHING in this case would have been closer to what the public wants and demands. The new immigrants will probably join the "got my hand out wanting something DEMOCRATS" but atleast they are Pro-Life and don't celebrate killing babies.
I've had it with the state and national politicians on both sides of the aisle. If you want to make a difference, please vote in the primary elections, that is where the house and senate seats are won and lost, more than in the general elections. Your vote in the primaries is worth 6 - 10 times what it is in the general election because of lower voter turnout. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

First, voting in the primaries requires you to be a registered party member, does it not? That's something I refuse to do because I believe both parties are saturated with idiots.
Second, most of what you write about would, at best, treat the symptoms while ignoring the root of the problem. We can spend more money and time building bigger walls, and driving more buses and planes and ships back to other countries to deposit their illegal immigrants, but that does not and will not solve the problem.
The only real solution lies helping other nations improves themselves to the point that their people are risking their lives trying to get to America where they can actually have a chance.
How about, instead of building a stupid fence that will have just about zero effect, we get some real convincing people to go down to Mexico and talk with Carlos Slim Helu - the world's second richest man. Between him and the Mexican government (I don't know which is more corrupt and self-serving) it's quite obvious why so many are risking their lives and heading for America. Sure, the people could do better at controlling their cockroach-like breeding habits, but ending the corrupting and giving the people a chance to succeed in their home countries is the best means of controlling illegal immigration across our borders.

I agree that a fence is treating the symptoms. Stopping the influx on illegals is the first step. Pressuring the gov ts of Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Chad, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Canada, Ireland etc. to improve their own countries and economies is down the list from stopping the bleeding.
Maybe I'm wrong in interpreting your analogy, but it sounds like if you come across someone with a severed artery, you would not apply a tourniquet because you don't have the tools or knowledge to reattach the artery. I think we are in the severed artery stage now.

I am in agreement to your stance herein. Especially the part about seeking out the illegals and deporting them. How about bringing 18-Wheelers to those illegal alien rallies that were held on May 1st? If people did not have documentation to prove their citizenship or visa status, they could be loaded up and returned home. Also, it is not just the border near Mexico that warrants our concern. The US needs to do their part to ensure people coming into the US from any location are documented and have approval to come on in.
That being said, I thought I would poke a bit of fun (it is funny because it is true). I have an uncle named Muhammed that came from Iran (the legal way). He is fully invested in American ways. So much so that he has converted to Catholicism, drives a Cadillac and has an addiction to Starbucks. So, not all Muhammed's have a bomb in their back pocket!

I have a great uncle named Riley Kester and would take no offense if someone else named Riley was a bomb caring lunatic and used "Riley" as an example of the type of persons we don't need more of.
As I think more about what I wrote, the thought that we are supposed to be a nation of laws. It seems ludicrous to allow illegal ALIEN law breakers (False ID and Social Security Cards, etc. which are felonies)freedom to be ignored by the Federal authorities and have Border states no freedom to secure their own borders. Not to mention the cities that have "sanctuary status". It's no wonder that there is no fear in coming here because the illegals know we talk the talk of law enforcement but do not walk the walk of law enforcement.

Severed artery. I'm not sure that's an appropriate analogy. The government's current deficit spending is a good analogy to your severed artery example. But, I suppose, if we were to look at Mexico (and other nations) as the artery that is severed, bleeding illegal immigrants, then your examples would have us trying to push the blood (Mexicans) back into the artery (Mexico). That doesn't make any sense, does it? No. So, the real solution is to find a way to keep to many people from bleeding out of their home nations. The tuorniquet needs to be applied to Mexico (and other nations), not to Texas, California and other U.S. borders. That would be like putting a turniquette on your clothing, but still allowing the blood to gush freely from your body.
To be quite honest, I'm not really concerned about the illegals that are already here. Deport them. Don't deport them. I just don't care. Let's do something about helping people not want to come here in the first place. And maybe, just maybe, some of the ones here will go back home on their own. The ones who don't go home will need to be forced to assimilate, and stop being coddled to.

The governments south of us don't want to fix their problems if they can "export" over a million people per year. The government is publishing info and giving it to their emmigrants to assist in where to cross over for the best routes from different areas of mexico. The number 1 piece of the mexican economy is oil....don't have the revenue # for that, the 2nd largest part of their economy is money sent back by illegals from the US over 55,000,000,000 per year. They have no reason to want to come up with that much scratch on their own, or they already would have.

No Free Medical has more repercussions that you're thinking there are. As Leah works for the health department, that is an extremely bad idea. See, no free medical won't stop them from coming here. Heck most of them don't have medical care where they came from anyway. All that would so is HELP the spread of infectious disease to everyone. I mean if Jose comes over here and gets sick (say with something serious) and can't go see a doctor because #1 he'll be deported or #2 he;s not allowed, do you think he'll skip is work (despite the fact that his employer shouldn't be hiring illegals) and stay home as not to get anyone else sick? Heck no, he'll continue to bus his tables, or work in the kitchen of a restaurant infecting everyone he comes in contact with. Whether or not we like it, we have to look at the bigger picture, even if it's unpleasant.

That is a possibility, but it would certainly get press, attention and possibly even action by local, state and feds in actually solving the problem. With almost everything, there is a level of risk. Doing nothing but reaching deeper and deeper into my and the rest of the citizens and legal immigrants pockets is not an option as far as I am concerned.

The government can stop this activity if they choose to. All they have to do is park an aircraft carrier fleet in the gulf,launch sorties and bomb our side of the border. By the time they here the jets, it's already to late. Here comes the human rights group complaining. Well, what about Americans rights to protect their land from invading forces? Even if unarmed, the shear mass alone is invading forces. A wise man once told me to do the right thing when nobody is around. Funny, our government can't do the right thing when everyone is around. All these highly paid personnel in office are supposed to be protecting our interest, yet the only thing they or protecting is a cheap way to get their yards cut and their personel items taken care of. All in the name of saving a buck. I have no problems with people coming here to be a citizen, but damn it do it correctly. The other question that will arise (eventually) is social security? All I know is that I am tired of being treated as a foreinger (however you spell that) in my own country. I do 10 mph over the speed limit and I get a ticket. Sancho crosses the border and he gets all of our benefits that we have worked and fought for. This is bull. Remember the government is for the people, by the people. We have the power to fix this. Elections are coming and all can be replaced. We should hold our own protest and call it "Americans Rights". Aye, amensty say them, a rebellion says I.
